Robbery rates have soared across England a government study has revealed.

In 1990 there were 72 robberies per 100,000 people. In 2004/5 there were 168 per 100,000 people. The numbers have continued to climb since the current administration came to power.

In the south the figures reveal a 165 percent jump over the period which effective transalates into an extra ten robberies a day.
